VTG DeForest of CA Mermaid & Bubbles Kitch Wall Art 4 Piece Set Original Backing
DeForest of California Mermaid and Bubbles Wall Plaque Set. This is a truly exceptional find as the pieces are in the original packaging and still adhered to the illustrated cardboard. Made by Deforest of California circa 1950s, this 4 piece hand painted, ceramic mermaid set (mermaid and 3 bubbles), is in an off-white ground with black and reddish brown and gold accent. Hole on back of pieces for hanging. It is in very good to excellent vintage condition. Some of the gold cold paint has worn away and there is fine crazing to the glaze on all pieces. No chips or cracks on any. Original rhinestones not found intact and were replaced.
The outer cardboard is not in good shape and will not be included in the sale. The illustrated cardboard backing is included as the wall art is attached to it. Mermaid Measurements: 6"W x8"H x1 1/4D. It all started with Margaret DeForest back in 1950. Margaret's hobby was pottery and she turned it into a business in 1950 - 1970.
