Pair of Antique Franz Wittwer Dresden/Meissen German Baroque-Style Wall Plaques

Pair of Antique Franz Wittwer Dresden/Meissen German Baroque-Style Wall Plaques. This listing is for two (2) Franz Wittwer Dresden/Meissen wall plaques depicting a man and woman in two different scenes.

The amount of detail on these two pieces is astounding and must be seen to be truly appreciated! One plaque depicts a man playing what looks like a recorder for a woman while they sit on a rock. There are trees in the background and what looks to be a sheep near the feet of the man. The man is dressed in a white shirt, green jacket, and brown pants with classic high white socks and fancy brown shoes.

The woman is wearing a dress with a red bodice, blue sleeves, orange apron and flowered skirt. There is some shine added to touches of the plaque. At the top, there is an antique velvet green ribbon attached to a metal ring for hanging.

There is an old orange paper taped to the back with the numbers 234 on it. The other plaque depicts a man and woman sitting on a rock with a string instrument sitting next to the man.

Again, there are trees in the background and what appears to be a dog at their feet. The man is dressed in a white shirt, brown jacket, and brown knickers with high white socks and fancy matching brown shoes. The woman is wearing a dress with a brown bodice and blue sleeves, with a greenish-orange apron and a polka dot skirt with flowers at the bottom. Some shine was also added to this plaque. The back of this plaque had a bunch of old tape on it when I acquired it.

In peeling the tape off, I realized the previous owner had taped the broken finger piece to the back so as not to lose it. Both pieces are marked with a crown and the letter "F" on the back in blue. Research tells me this is the mark of Franz Wittwer's works. The piece with the recorder is imprinted with the number "2659" at the very top on the edge. The other piece is imprinted with the number "2660" at the very top on the edge.

They measure approximately 10 inches tall x 7 1/4 inches wide x 2 inches deep. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Decorative Collectibles\Sculptures & Figurines". The seller is "ldsanche" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
