1950s 1960s Vintage AFRICAN DANCERS Chalkware MID CENTURY MODERN Wall Plaque Set. Incredible Mid0Century design, made of plaster or chalkware. These retain their original "UNIVERSAL STATUARY CORP" gold foil labels. Made in Chicago, with a postal code of "27" dating these to the late 1950's to early 1960's.
Each measures approximately 21" tall and 12" wide. The pair displays beautifully, but as you can imagine, with all of the details it's a wonder they have survived. Various nicks and scuffs, as expected.
The male figure has a replaced finger, (no other repairs) and some damage to his lips, as shown. It appears there are some scattered minor touch-ups to the black paint. No cracks or hairlines, and no hidden damage.
